Pteygoid Implants

At Simcoe Dental Implants, we are proud to offer pterygoid implants—an advanced solution designed for patients with significant bone loss in the upper jaw.

This innovative procedure uses the pterygoid bone for implant placement, eliminating the need for bone grafting or sinus lifts while still providing a secure foundation for prosthetic teeth. The pterygoid bone, located behind the maxilla, is extremely dense and strong, making it an ideal site for implant stability. It can only be properly visualized with advanced CBCT imaging.

The process begins with a comprehensive consultation and detailed Cone Beam CT scans to plan precise placement. The procedure is typically completed in a single day, offering patients immediate improvements in both function and aesthetics. These implants not only provide long-term stability but also help prevent further bone deterioration.

Pterygoid implants are especially beneficial for patients with severe bone loss caused by periodontal disease, trauma, or failed implants. They are often used in combination with other implants as part of All-on-4 or All-on-6 full-arch treatments.
